surfaces in urban areas create five times more runoff than woodland areas of the same size (EPA, ). A variety of techniques have been developed to manage urban stormwater runoff including porous pavement, retention ponds, rain barrels, infiltration trenches, natural or constructed wetlands. The Time/area method, one of the MOUSE runoff models, has been applied in this study. The delineated catchments together with their characteristics are imported to MOUSE runoff model after implementing a series of data converting procedures. The calibration of the constructed runoff model has been carried out in a Norwegian case. The United States Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA) National Urban Runoff Program's (NURP) Final Report presents the results of an extensive runoff sampling and analysis program that consisted of collecting samples from more than 2, separate storm events. In part, the NURP report.   The effects of urban runoff have been exacerbated by stormwater management techniques popularized after World War II, in which drainage systems were designed to rapidly convey vast amounts of stormwater through gutters and pipes with no attenuation or pollutant removal.

Rainfall-runoff models play an important role in urban water resource management. The storm water management model (SWMM) developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is a widely used dynamic rainfall-runoff model for analyzing quantity and quality problems associated with urban drainage systems.

In an ideal situation, the SWMM model would be designed and. Studies showing consistent degradation in the face of increasing urban stormwater drainage, indicate that the reverse is true. Urban stormwater runoff, delivered through conventional drainage systems, is a complex environmental flow problem that can, in large part, be solved by harvesting stormwater before it reaches aquatic ecosystems.

Urban stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces in Pen Argyl Borough could be a possible source of siltation (sediment) impacting Waltz Creek. The increased stormwater runoff impacting Waltz Creek results in a greater frequency of higher velocity runoff events. Evaluation of Underground Stormwater Infiltration Systems.

Completed in the fall ofthis three year study evaluated the effectiveness of three underground stormwater infiltration systems constructed over fine-textured glacial till soils and draining runoff from industrial/commercial developments located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

therefore are subject to more frequent disturbances from runoff. Recent studies by Monash and Melbourne University suggest that catchments should aim to reduce the number of runoff days to less than 15 per year, (compared with traditional drainage systems which result in greater than surface run off.
